Sweetwater Brewery is moving forward with plans to overhaul its taproom.
The taproom will close October 1 and will reopen early-2019 as a mini brewpub concept, according to a press release Monday.
Physical improvements to Sweetwater’s taproom will include a new bar as the centerpiece, large roll-up doors creating an indoor/outdoor environment with communal seating.
The addition of a kitchen will allow the brewery to offer catering services to private events, plus a bar menu for taproom guests during regular hours.
When the taproom reopens early next year, hours will remain the same.
Brewery tours will still be encouraged, and the taproom will continue to program live music, games and other experiences.
The kitchen will serve food from a casual bar menu, designed to pair well with Sweetwater brews, and can be ordered at the counter and consumed at the bar or communal tables.
During the construction, the brewery will still offer tours and tastings during normal hours on Thursdays through Sundays, with bars set up on the tented patio.
The Woodlands barrel aging facility will continue to offer tours and tastings on Saturdays, and private events will continue to be held in The Woodlands and Reel Room.
To celebrate the final days before construction, Sweetwater is hosting a weekend of live music and brews (no admission fee; beers available for purchase by the pint or flight):
- Friday, 9/28: Taproom opens at 4:20 pm. Noonday Son will perform on the patio with a light show starting at 7:30 pm.
- Saturday, 9/29: Live music from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Last Chance Riders, Cure My Enemy, and Nobody’s Darlings.
