Michigan-based Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is opening a franchise in the Town Brookhaven development, at 705 Town Boulevard.
It’s the first Georgia location for the coffee and tea chain.
Seema Rao is the franchisee opening the new Sweetwaters.
“I love, love, love this brand and its products not just because the of the fact that it is made with real ingredients but the taste is simply amazing,” Rao in an email told What Now Atlanta.
“Moreover, this brand gives me the opportunity to actively participate in the community—schools, universities, non-profit organizations—by helping them with fundraising, rewarding students with good grades.”
The quick-service restaurant first debuted in 1993 in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan.
On the menu is a variety of coffees, teas, pastries, desserts, and light fare (like sandwiches and salads.)
Including the soon-to-open Georgia outpost, the company has 16 locations across California, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and North Carolina.
As for future locations, “I would definitely be open to adding more Sweetwaters to the area,” Rao said.
“Atlanta is going to love Sweetwaters drinks. I’d like to help make more people’s day!”
Since their moniker has already been long established here – I wonder if the brewing company will ask for a cease and desist on the usage of this name. The “s” on the end of the name is hardly enough differention to be noticeable.
There are a lot of registered trademarks with Sweetwater in the name. Trademarks are granted in specific product categories and Sweetwater Brewing’s are in Beer, while Sweetwaters’ are in Coffeehouses, Restaurants, Coffee, Tea, Desserts, etc. They’ll have to learn to co-exist because legally they’re allowed to.
Recently moved in to Town of Brookhaven and walk by this storefront daily. I am anxiously awaiting this opening!!
