UPDATE (December 15, 2017): Taco Cantina Old Fourth Ward Now Open

Taco Cantina is replacing Baked in Old Fourth Ward.

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, Inc. this week executed a lease purchase of the Tribute Lofts space, at 480 John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE.

The Mexican restaurant is from wife-and-husband team Brianna and Adolfo Gonzales. The couple acquired the entire Baked restaurant including the furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

“It was pretty turn-key which was great for us,” Brianna Tuesday told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview.

“We’ve been wanting a space with a bar and we love the access to the Beltline.”

The new Taco Cantina could open as early as the first week of November pending liquor license approval, she said.

An expanded menu not seen at the Smyrna location—which debuted summer 2015 replacing the Lucky 13 Pizzeria—as well as a new beverage program and live music on the weekends are in the works.

“We’re adding new starter items, appetizers, and a couple new desserts. And obviously some good margaritas.”

A third Taco Cantina is also on the table.

The Gonzaleses are looking in Alpharetta, Buckhead, and Marietta, among other places.
