A new dining experience coming to Abrams Fixtures intends to take visitors on a culinary journey through Japan.
Ryokou, a new concept from the team behind West Midtown’s Omakase Table, is planned for the mixed-use development in Adair Park.
“The theme is a journey or trip across Japan,” said partner Paul Gutting, who is opening the restaurant with Chef Leonard Yu.
Expect around 12 courses, a more streamlined experience than at Omakase Table, which offers 20 courses. The meal will start with dishes inspired by Okayama, a city known for its seafood, and then travel down the country using “ingredients and specialties from each area as we go through it.” The experience will end on a sweet note with dessert, which will encompass elements from all over Japan.
Gutting has been working with Chef Yu since Omakase Table started. It began as a pop-up before opening at a permanent space on West Marietta Street in 2022.
“I was interested in Japanese culture as a whole before I got into the restaurant world,” Gutting said. “I realized how much I loved cooking for my friends and everything, so I decided to go to culinary school to try it out and see how it would be. I loved every second of it.”
Ryokou is expected to open at Abrams Fixtures this summer.
The development is an adaptive-reuse project by Atlanta-based real estate developer Braden Fellman Group with residential, retail and office space.
