The Creamy Spot has been without a storefront since its previous home — Best End Brewing in West End — shuttered at the end of last year. While it has had plans to relocate since then, the process was delayed. However, owner Wendy Golding confirmed with What Now Atlanta that they are preparing to open in their container at Pittsburgh Yards. While she currently is waiting on a business license approval, she is hoping to move in and open by early September.

The spot will not offer indoor space, but it will offer plenty of area in the courtyard for people to gather.

“It’s going to be a come, hang out and eat in our courtyard,” Golding said. “We’ll have some covered seating and we’ll make it comfortable.”

The brand is known for its plant-based, dairy-free ice cream. Golding launched it as an offshoot of her popsicle brand GOAP, which has been operating for six years and has become popular at local farmers markets and festivals. GOAP’s business strategy is to go out into the community and bring treats to customers, while The Creamy Spot offers a physical hangout spot for the community.

“The vision for the ice cream shop was to make a place for the community to gather, and to come and fellowship and network, all while enjoying a truly inclusive treat where people don’t have to worry about dairy allergies or nut allergies,” Golding said. “So we strive to make everything super inclusive. We want to continue that vision for the brand.”

Golding is looking forward to joining the Pittsburgh Yards community and bringing offerings back to her customers with the reopening.

“Being a part of such a historic and monumental community is huge for us,” Golding said. “We started out in the West End, so it’s nice to be in another historic Black neighborhood as we are a Black woman-owned and operated company. So it’ll be nice being in that neighborhood for sure.”

Customers can expect a wide array of ice cream offerings, all designed to be plant-based and allergen-free.

“We’ll offer all the ice cream you can dream of, from milkshakes to soft serve, from swirls on a cone to scoop ice cream, to ice cream sandwiches and ice cream candy bars,” Golding said. “That’s kind of our thing — anything you can dream of for ice cream, we’ll offer at our shop.”
