Tropical Smoothie Cafe is coming to Modera Morningside, the mixed-use development on Piedmont Avenue that just completed its second phase of construction.
The new franchise location will be helmed by Michael Toca, M.D.
A cardiologist by trade, this is Dr. Toca’s first foray into restaurant ownership. He plans to open in early 2018, and noted that the “community and its businesses have been very receptive to having more healthy food options.”
Dr. Toca’s career as a cardiologist influenced his decision to open a Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
“I decided to open a Tropical Smoothie because as a cardiologist, I see the negative effects of unhealthy food choices every day,” Dr. Toca this week told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview.
According to recently filed permits for the project, the restaurant’s buildout will cost an estimated $100,000, focusing mostly on the interior of its newly completed space.
Modera Morningside, developed by Mill Creek Residential, is anchored by Sprouts.
