Truva Turkish Kitchen is now open in Virginia-Highland.
Like its original sister restaurant downtown by the same name, Truva features Turkish cuisine and is owned and operated by Muzo Saritas.
“One of the best ways to learn about a new culture is through its food,” Saritas, a native of Istanbul, said in a press release.
“We feel so fortunate that we can now offer a fully immersive Mediterranean dining experience to the Virginia-Highland community, and we’ve made this new location even more family-focused to serve the residents of the neighborhood.”
Sehmus Gultekin, also born in Turkey, is the restaurant’s executive chef.
The restaurant’s lunch and dinner menus feature a selection of cold and hot meze, salads, chargrilled kebabs and entrée specialties.
Signature dishes include stuffed grape leaves, Turkish-style red lentil soup, braised lamb shank, and vegetarian moussaka.
Sandwiches, like a falafel wrap, are available during lunch.
A kids menu is available for children 12 and under, featuring items like grilled chicken, a cheeseburger, grilled cheese, and chicken tenders.
Truva’s beverage program features a wine list with varietals from all over the world and menu-complimentary cocktails.
John Lay of Innerworks Design Group created the restaurant’s modern Mediterranean décor.
The dining room seats 110 guests, while the bar and patio areas provide an additional 40 seats apiece.
A semi-private area also is available for special functions and includes a large bar and lounge area with sofas and “niche” seating.
Truva Virginia-Highland, at 842 N. Highland Ave NE., replaces American Roadhouse.
It is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
