Stephanie Thomas earlier this year left corporate America to pursue her dream of opening a coffee shop; an idea that sprouted in a London cafe.

The first-time restauranteur in January will welcome Caffe Bella to the Blandtown neighborhood of Atlanta in the Apex West Midtown apartment community, Thomas Wednesday told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview.

“We are lovers of coffee but Caffe Bella grew from far more than just that,” she said.

The coffee shop will source its beans through Beanealogy—the Atlanta-based roaster from JavaVino’s Steve Franklin.

Thomas has been studying coffee for nearly eight years.

After training with Counter Culture Coffee, Thomas made a two-week trip to Nicaragua where Franklin’s team grows the coffee beans roasted at Beanealogy.

In Nicaragua, Thomas studied the origin of coffee with Franklin’s family, she said.

Back in Atlanta, she interned for a few weeks at JavaVino before training in Portland with Bellissimo Coffee Advisors to learn everything about the coffee business.

While coffee will be Caffe Bella’s focus, a tapas-style breakfast and lunch will be served. Think muffins, paninis, hummus, salads, and soups.

Paired with the wine and beer offerings will be small plates of meats and cheeses. New Orleans-style beignets will also be on the menu.

Caffe Bella is currently in the permitting process with Fulton County.

“Come to Caffe Bella to escape all the drama out in the streets.”
