The chicken chain restaurant will be the first tenant to open doors in the Glenwood Place development.
Chick-fil-A at Fuqua’s Glenwood Place development at Bill Kennedy and Glenwood Avenue is making good progress.
The administrator of the location’s Facebook page told What Now Atlanta this weekend that the fast food chicken restaurant will be open in mid-May.
The free-standing Chick-fil-A outpost will feature a drive-thru.
News of the shopping center project was first unveiled last year. 216 apartments and 24,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space are also under construction.
The plaza will be anchored by a 118,000-square-foot Kroger. Originally, Fuqua’s proposed plans included a Wal-Mart, but the developer’s plans changed after much pushback from the surrounding area.
Other known tenants of Glenwood Place include Waffle House, Starbucks and Chipotle.
Do you think the restaurant is a good fit for the area? Tell us below…
In general I don’t think the collective residents of Glenwood Park share the close minded provincial attitudes of the founder/company running Chick-fil-A. Knowing what I know about the company, I try to avoid giving them my business, and I’m guessing I’m not the only one in my neighborhood.
I am definitely going to this Chik-Fil-A and I am gay.
Even though I don’t each much fast food, I’m looking forward to this Chick-fil-A opening. This along with the Waffle House will give my family and I some nice, low-key, family friendly dining options. Chick -fil-A is pretty much the only fast food restaurant this area doesn’t have (all on Moreland Ave). There’s a lot of empty retail space on Garrett and Bill Kennedy, so this could help fill-in the neighborhood and make it even more walkable for services and dining options. My only concern is that opening chains like Starbucks and Chipotle will take business away from the locally owned coffee shops and restaurants that give the Glenwood Park/East Atlanta area its distinctive flavor…..
Mr. Wee Wee sez, “yOu gO girl” and STAND FIRM BEHIND Barack! Mr. Wee Wee lOves me sOme Target but nOt me sOme Chik fil A!!
Great for the area. Very much needed. Looking forward to the opening.
When is the Kroger gas and Starbucks opening?
Representative said all components usually open at the same time, and the gas station may open “about a week earlier.”
Putting in this collection of fast food restaurants/businesses cheapens the Glenwood Park neighborhood as a whole. Considering Glenwood Park residents are mostly upper class, they can expect to have a lot of unwanted traffic with these cheap stores.
Really disappointed to have such chains going in.
