The neighborhood bodega and the latin-inspired restaurant with a southern twist respectively, are making a triumphant return Sept. 26.

Urban Cannibals and Madre + Mason, two Midtown restaurants that shuttered late-2016, will reopen Tuesday, September 26.

The two restaurants, owned by couple Calavino Donati and Doria Roberts, will reopen under one roof, at 366 5th Street NE.

366 5th Street was previously home to Urban Cannibals after the neighborhood restaurant and bodega relocated from East Atlanta.

By day Urban Cannibals will serve breakfast and brunch. By night Madre + Mason will serve its Latin-inspired cuisine with a Southern twist.

“The dining room to the left will offer a date-night atmosphere,” Donati Sunday in a telephone interview told What Now Atlanta.

“The bar area will be more of a communal-style space with games, trivia night, and acoustic music on occasion. We decided to throw a few televisions in there even though we don’t typically like TVs in restaurants.”

The joint concept will offer dinner service as Madre + Mason Tuesday through Saturday, 5 pm. to 10 pm. and Sunday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Urban Cannibals brunch is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Breakfast will be added in a week or two after opening.

“We want to get the word out first that we’re there and then add breakfast.”
