Hi-Five Diner to replace sandwich joint under same ownership mid-January.
Villains, the Midtown sandwich joint that replaced Little Azio’s, is closing its doors Dec. 20, the restaurant in a press release announced this week.
Alex Brounstein, the owner of Villains and restauranteur behind Grindhouse Killer Burgers, will open a new concept, Hi-Five Diner, in Villains’ place mid-January.
“We are tremendously appreciative of all the support and patronage from our Villains fans and family and are proud of the product and experience we provided to our customers,” Brounstein said in the release.
“Unfortunately, not enough of our loyal fans live or work in Midtown, and this proved to be too much of a challenge for us.
Villains late Monday took to its Facebook page inviting its more than 2,000 fans to “like” Hi-Five Diner on the social media platform for information on the forthcoming concept as it develops.
“If you would like to get news on our new concept Hi-Five Diner that will be replacing Villains next month, please “like” our Facebook page below,” according to the post. “We will post the new menu, as well as some progress photos soon.”
Brounstein plans to re-open Villains elsewhere, “closer to our core audience in the near future.”
It’s overpriced mediocre food anyway. Hopefully the new concept will offer something more substantial and at a better price point.
