9 Out of 10 Restaurants Close in the First Year. WaterHaven Next?
WaterHaven restaurant, located at Technology Square in Midtown, closed for “renovations” this past Tuesday, June 1.
Single sheets of computer paper taped to the entrances read, “WaterHaven will be closed starting June 1 for renovations. Please visit www.waterhavenatl.com for more information or email [email protected].”
A quick visit to their website won’t turn any information on this renovation. Further snooping, ahem, thorough research, leads us to believe that WaterHaven is experiencing what we’re calling the “Beleza Complex” (Riccardo Ullio’s Beleza lounge was under renovation but never re-opened).
Interviews with nearby business owners and employees alike suggest that WaterHaven management have made their way around to inform of the renovation. These same individuals sense something more is wrong, particularly because of the lack of traffic to WaterHaven.
An employee of a nearby business who wishes to remain anonymous (suspense) suggests that, from observation, “WaterHaven is really slow around dinner time.”
“Management approached me informing me of the renovations,” she said. “I’ve noticed they removed artwork from the space, but that’s about all.”
Originally home to Globe restaurant, WaterHaven opened its doors in May of 2009. Having just celebrated their one-year anniversary, it is surprising that WaterHaven is already undergoing renovations. We aren’t suggesting that they won’t reopen, but it wouldn’t be shocking if they didn’t.
