Atlanta-based Willy’s Mexicana Grill is opening a new location in Smyrna April 19 at 11 a.m., according to a press release Wednesday.

The restaurant, at 2995 Atlanta Road SE, Suite A-160, is situated in the Jonquil project, a new 11-acre mixed-use development.

Jonquil is anchored by a 45,000-square-foot Publix, has 25,000-square-feet of retail and restaurant space, and a 266-unit rental community.

During its grand opening, Willy’s will give the first 50 guests a free burrito and drink.

Willy’s Mexicana Grill was started by Willy Bitter, an entrepreneur who fell in love with California-style burritos after living in San Francisco and visiting the Mission District in the 1990s.

Bitter brought the idea for a new style of fast-casual Mexican restaurant back to Atlanta and opened his first Willy’s in 1995.
