UPDATE (January 31, 2019): Redbird Is Moving Forward In Former Bacchanalia Space
Chef Zeb Stevenson and Ross Jones in a press release Monday announced plans to open Redbird in West Midtown.
Stevenson and Jones—formerly of Watershed—will open the new eatery in Westside Provisions District.
It will take space previously occupied by Bacchanalia, at 1198 Howell Mill Road NW.
“Redbird will be fun, lively and comfortable with a ‘come as you are’ sensibility,” according to the announcement.
“It will be built to serve guests the way they want to eat most frequently—casually with friends, delicious food to share and with excellent beer, cocktails and wine selections.”
Redbird will serve an ever-changing menu of “free-spirited cuisine.”
Dishes will highlight local and seasonal ingredients with a touch of international flare.
There will be a “front-row experience” at Stevenson’s eight-seat kitchen counter.
The bar at Redbird will be a “premiere” cocktail, beer, and wine bar with a focus exclusively on family-owned and small artisan wineries.
Designed by Smith Hanes, the restaurant will be a full service, casual concept serving lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
There will be approximately 80 seats in the dining room, eight seats at the kitchen counter, 15 seats at the bar, and 40 seats on the courtyard terrace.
Redbird is expected to open in early summer 2019.
