Savannah-based Zunzi’s Takeout & Catering is set to open in Buckhead on Wednesday, May 30.

Lunch service will begin at 11 a.m., Chris Smith, co-owner of the fast-casual eatery, Wednesday confirmed to What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview.

“It’s really a soft opening intended to give our team a chance to get up and running,” Smith said.

“We don’t do any grand opening hoopla. We just want to open and focus on operations and run a good restaurant.”

Zunzi’s, situated in the Howell Mill Shops development at 1971 Howell Mill Road, held a “friends and family” event Tuesday.

On the menu are sandwiches like the Godfather—French Bread, Chicken, Smoked Sausage, Boerewors, Provolone, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato, Marinara, Parmesan, Shit Yeah Sauce, Zunzi’s Dressing—and the Fisherman’s Deck—French Bread, Salmon, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Dank Sauce, Shit Yeah Sauce, Zunzi’s Dressing.

The South African-style sandwiches are said to leave its guests shouting the company’s motto “shit yeah!”

WNA Partner Z-Space Design, alongside architect Tom Tedrow with Tedrow Design Group and the general contractor, Chad Muilenburg with Kasteel Enterprises, designed and built the Atlanta Zunzi’s.

“Getting the call to help bring this concept to Atlanta was exciting,” PJ Zakas, lead designer with Z-Space, told WNA in an email.

“They’re growing a culture within those four walls and with a second location in the pipeline, Chris has great things in store for Atlanta and Zunzi’s is here to stay.”
