Belk is closing its Phipps Plaza Flagship store in 2018, according to Bisnow.

“We do not have a specific date, but we expect it to close sometime next summer,” company spokesman Andy Izquierdo told Bisnow in a statement.

The retailer gave notice to employees of the Buckhead department store Monday.

A “major announcement” is expected at the Simon-Property-Group-owned mall Tuesday, the Atlanta Business Chronicle is reporting under lock and key.

It’s unclear if Belk’s shutter is part of the announcement.

The mall has been undergoing a major overhaul including the addition of many first-to-market restaurants including a $3MM Grand Lux Cafe.
