A children’s swim school franchise is set to make a splash in metro Atlanta.

Big Blue Swim School is planned for Roswell at 10779 Alpharetta Highway.

The location comes from Woody Alpern, CEO of Southeast Swim School Holdings, the largest Big Blue Swim School franchisee with plans to open a total of 40 locations across several states. The Roswell location will be Alpern’s seventh Big Blue Swim School.

Competitive swimmer Chris DeJong founded the company in Chicago in 2009. Big Blue Swim School offers programs for children of all ages, from baby classes to those for older kids. Programs include Baby Blue (3-months-old to 2-years-old), Bright Blue (3 years to 5 years), Bold Blue (6 years and up, beginners) and Big Blue (6 years and up, advanced).

The schools offer shallow, 90-degree pools for comfort and safety, as well as viewing areas for parents. The concept is designed to provide kids with “the skills they need to feel confident in the water.”

Big Blue Swim School can currently be found in North Druid Hills and Johns Creek. Another is planned for Marietta.

Big Blue Swim School is expected to open in Roswell in Q4 of 2025.
