Bargain retailer offers 30 percent off at its Lenox Marketplace location.
Filene’s Basement, the discounted high-end clothing retailer famous for its annual “Running of the Brides,” is going out of business.
The bargain retailer announced Wednesday in a press release, it would have a “huge going-out-of-business sale” for 14 remaining locations, including its Lenox Marketplace store in Buckhead. Other Lenox Marketplace retailers include Target and Urban Active.
Syms, Filene’s parent company, is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection and will close all of its Filene Basement stores and 25 Syms stores, by the end of January 2012.
Filene’s is offering discounts up to 30 percent off the lowest ticketed price on all merchandise at every location, according to the release.
“Incredible values can be found on over $100 million worth of inventory, including men’s and women’s business attire, sportswear, outerwear and children’s apparel, many carrying famous name designer labels,” according to the release.
An employee told What Now Atlanta on a trip to the store Thursday, Filene’s will close its Buckhead location when the bargain retailer’s inventory has run out.
No word on what will open in the Filene’s place.

As a guy, I must say it was a rare occasion I ever found anything appealing here. I won’t miss it.
agreed, Jonc-hopefully they can fill the location with something though! Its a big one
Sad. As a woman, I rarely found anything appealing at this store. I won’t miss it either. Now, I have very fond memories of the original Filene’s Basement at Downtown Crossing in Boston. That location, R,I.P., will forever live in my heart as the ultimate bargain shoppers paradise. Miss that store so much!
I vote for an Off 5th…and hey, it’ll help Saks save on transportation costs from the regular store ; )
