Amelia Hayes is taking over hair salon Emily J at 1568 Avenue Place, Suite D1-100, with plans to rebrand the concept and incorporate a new aspect of the business — renting out the space for private events — into the concept. Hayes told What Now Atlanta that they will be rebranding as The Do, which will serve both the hair and events sides of the dual-purpose concept.

“Do refers to hairdo, and do also means event or party, so we thought that made a lot of sense for this space,” Hayes said.

The salon is currently operating under the Emily J name, but Hayes said they have the rebrand in the works, with plans to roll out the new name, signage and website over the next couple months.

She plans to roll out the events side of the business late this year or early next year. The space features a mezzanine around the edge of the room, which will allow people to use both the lower and upper floors for events. There is also a wet bar upstairs, which can be used for events.

“I think it’s going to be really interesting to see what events roll through here,” Hayes said. “I think it can be used for a lot of different things — I think it could be used by businesses, by people having personal and family events, or it could even be a quirky place to have a wedding. I just think there’s quite a lot of potential here.”
