A longtime barber shop in Buckhead is getting a kid-friendly update.

Sit Still Kids Salon is planned for the Peachtree Battle shopping center. This would be the first Georgia location for the franchise that aims to create a fun salon experience for the whole family.

Eleni Morris is the owner behind the upcoming salon. As a mom herself, she saw a need for something like this in Atlanta, then she came across Sit Still Kids Salon via an Instagram ad.

“I’ve driven 45 minutes plus to kids chair salons in the area. Tons of my friends have done the same,” she told What Now Atlanta. “When I saw the concept of Sit Still, the idea behind it, I knew this was something we needed in the city.”

Sit Still Kids Salon began in Portland, Oregon, and can now be found in 15 states across the U.S. The salons offer haircuts as well as special styles and color options. Birthday parties and events can be held there as well.

In addition to creating a fun environment for children to spend time as they get their hair cut, the franchise aims to create a relaxing space for parents.

“What we really focus on is parents can have a nice calming environment to relax, have a beverage, check out our retail that we have and sit there and have a breather,” she said. “I think that’s a big difference because some other kids salons are very focused on the kids, which is great, but this is focused on the kids plus the parents.”

The Atlanta location is going into the 504-square-foot space formerly occupied by Peachtree Battle Barber Shop.

“This was the only location that came to mind when I thought about opening this,” Morris said, citing the proximity to other businesses like The Children’s Shop, Baskin-Robbins, Richards Variety Store and Starbucks. “That’s a really exciting location for a first salon and the flagship in Georgia.”

Sit Still Kids Salon is expected to open this spring, just in time for summer and back-to-school haircuts.
