Kinship, the planned chef-driven butcher shop and grocery store from Co-Owners Myles Moody and Rachael Pack, is targeting a February 1, 2021 opening timeline in Virginia-Highland, according to a press release Tuesday. The “multi-faceted” store aims to function as a marketplace for locals retailing locally-sourced dry goods, produce, a small selection of wine, meat cuts, and an international selection of cheeses. There are also plans to incorporate Academy Coffee, formerly of Irwin Street Market.
“An extremely important pillar of the Kinship value system is sourcing all products locally,” according to the release. “The team deals directly with local farmers and small purveyors to give consumers access to quality, in-season produce, and responsibly raised meat. They have a serious focus on sourcing items that support regenerative agriculture and organic or biodynamic farming techniques. Their belief is that working in this way moves towards more sustainable food systems and directly impacts the community in a very meaningful way.”
Kinship is situated in the “VA-HI” Building, built in 1925 and currently being “re-energized” by developer Gene Kansas | Commercial Real Estate. The building will also add Pizza by The Slice and the directly-adjacent property will soon be home to Farm Burger.
“We had the dream of doing in life what we love to do most but sought an environment where honesty, community, and family come first,” Moody said. “We intend to translate our Michelin-level attention to detail, organizational and management systems, and approach to the customer experience to this new concept in Atlanta to set us apart and to ensure our success.”
Looking forward to the coffee shop component and the pizza place!
Sounds like a good lineup for the neighborhood!
That mural is quite pretty– sure beats the ugly one that started going up in Inman Park this week.
