Kroger has a new location in the works in Dunwoody. It has plans to open a marketplace in the former Walmart space in Perimeter Village at 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Rd, according to reporting by Tomorrow’s News Today Atlanta. The store is expected to be 116,824 square feet.

Walmart closed in the space in summer 2024.

Kroger has more than 2,700 stores across 35 states, including subsidiary brands such as Smith’s, Fry’s and Dillons. The brand has multiple locations throughout the Atlanta area, and it has been growing in the area. Last year, What Now Atlanta reported on a new location heading to Bethlehem.

The grocery store chain hails from Cincinnati, where Barney Kroger opened the first location in 1883. Products sold by the brand range from household and pantry staples to fuel.

As of now, an opening timeline is still forthcoming for the new Dunwoody location.
