Long Story Books is heading to Inman Park, with plans to open at 717 Edgewood Avenue. It is targeting an early 2026 opening, according to its Instagram page.
Founder Kate Kiefer Lee is drawing inspiration from indie bookstores to bring her vision to life. Lee made the decision to leave her corporate career last year in favor of opening her own venture.
“I just love indie bookstores. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the people (seriously, booksellers are the coolest),” an Instagram post states. “The window displays, the tote bags, the way every shop has its own unique personality. The fact that I always leave with something I never would have found online. The magic of it all! Bookshops are happy places, and the world needs more of them.”
The team has been undergoing the extensive process of receiving permitting and approvals to redesign the old historic home at Inman Park that will house the forthcoming bookstore. Lee has been collaborating with Martin Rickles Studio and Family Bros. throughout the process.
The landscaping and design will offer an atmosphere of “elegant whimsy” with elements of nostalgia and playfulness, according to the Instagram page.
Construction is still to come on the space.
