Atlanta’s growing tech community attracts Apple-oriented business.
There’s no sign of Apple planning any retail stores in Midtown yet. However, Experimac, which has a three existing locations in the metro area but none in the city of Atlanta, will soon have an outpost at 800 Peachtree.
The concept is a source for Apple product repairs and upgrades, pre-owned sales and trade-ins for iPhone devices, iPad tablets, iMac computers, MacBook laptops and more.
Franchise owner Ernest Duncan told What Now Atlanta this week that he is a loyal consumer of Apple products. When he discovered that there is a market for pre-owned devices, he decided he wanted to be part of the process.
“I have a long history of working in nonprofits where entrepreneurship was a part of their DNA. I’m an adjunct faculty member at several universities teaching leadership, entrepreneurship, and strategy. I’ve grown up in an entrepreneurial family as my parents, grandparents, and other family members have owned businesses throughout their lives. My role has always been trusted adviser and counsel to others. I decided to take the leap and join them in owning a business full-time.”
Duncan also cited Atlanta’s thriving tech community as a reason for opening a technology-oriented business.
The store’s grand opening is planned for June or July. If all goes according to plan, Duncan plans to open one or two more locations in the Atlanta area in the future.
