onlYoga, which opened 20 years ago in Midtown, becoming the area’s first yoga studio, filed a permit and is moving to 1201 Peachtree Street.
This new location is at Colony Square, a mixed-use development space offering food, retail, offices and event space.
onlYoga was founded by John Meredith, but changed ownership six years ago when Anne Marie Johnsen took over.
“I’m really excited about being part of the new colony square,” Johnsen said. “I think it’s amazing and our new spot is going to make us more visible which I am also excited about.”
onlYoga specializes in teaching ashtanga and creative vinyasa. The ashtanga series uses the tristana method, meaning three points of attention. In ashtanga, postures are held longer than in typical vinyasa classes, allowing time to learn alignment and hands on adjustments. In yoga, vinyasa involves connecting breath to movement. onlYoga’s “creative vinyasa,” means you’ll never experience the same vinyasa class twice. Each class offers different postures and sequencing in an effort to keep the mind and body engaged and challenged.
onlYoga offers both standard yoga classes and private sessions, including $20 drop-in sessions and monthly memberships. A full list of prices and a schedule of upcoming classes is available on onlYoga’s website.
For those interested in becoming a yoga teacher, onlYoga also offers a 200 hour training program. Tuition is $3,000, which includes all the required texts, workshops and training required to become a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance approved teacher.
Johnsen said there isn’t a firm date yet for onlYoga’s Colony Square debut, but they’re hoping for September.
