The Labubu is on the move in Atlanta.
POP MART, a Chinese toy and entertainment company known for viral toys like the Labubu, has plans to open a store at Cumberland Mall in the space formerly home to Build-a-Bear. The forthcoming location is listed as “coming soon” on the Cumberland Mall website. Tomorrow’s News Today Atlanta first reported the news.
Located near H&M, it will neighbor stores such as Q Fashion and Hi Level Fashion.
POP MART has yet to venture into the Southeast, aside from a roboshop location in a development near Nashville and one in Florida. It also has plans to enter Dunwoody’s Perimeter Mall. These will mark the first two stores for the brand in the Atlanta area.
POP MART has become popular for its “blind box” figurines, which means the buyer purchases a figurine without seeing it, knowing it is one in a series. POP MART also sells other accessories.
The toy company has grown to include more than 500 stores across 30 countries and more than 2,000 roboshops — vending machines that act as miniature POP MART stores, where customers can purchase blind-box figurines.
In the U.S., POP MART finds its strongest presence in the New York and Los Angeles markets. It currently has locations in 18 states and appears to have plans to continue to spread across the country.
