The clothing retailer with locations along the northeastern coast is heading south for the winter.
UPDATE (April 4, 2017): South Moon Under Ponce City Market To Open April 6
South Moon Under, a privately-owned “upscale” clothing retailer with locations along the northeastern coast, is looking to open its first Georgia store.
South Moon Under this week filed a building permit application with City of Atlanta to open a 2,878-square-foot retail store in Ponce City Market, at 675 Ponce de Leon Avenue.
An estimated $280,000 could be spent building out South Moon Under in Suite S106, situated in the building that houses Binders Art Supplies and City Winery, in the Old Fourth Ward mixed-use development.
The space is currently a “white box” and will receieve an “interior fit” for the mercantile use of South Moon Under.
Founded in 1968 in a “small surf shack,” South Moon Under today retails brands like Free People, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, JBrand jeans, Michael Stars (which has its own Ponce City Market store), Penguin, Trina Turk, Levi, Citizens of Humanity, Hudson, and more.
South Moon Under has stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, according to the retailer’s website.
