Sugarcoat, the award-winning nail and beauty salon, is now officially open at Uptown Atlanta, the 47-acre, transit-oriented mixed-used destination being redeveloped by Rubenstein Partners, L.P. (together with its affiliates, “Rubenstein”).

An Atlanta favorite, the brand’s newest location sits in the heart of Uptown’s Main Street, anchored by a collection of recently opened restaurants and retailers, including White Windmill, Madre Selva, The Commodore, Bene Korean, Roundhouse Kickboxing, El Gordo, J’ouvert Caribbean Kitchen and Fly on a Wall. Founded by Peiru Kim, a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology, Sugarcoat offers manicures, pedicures, facials, lashes and more.

“We are thrilled to be joining Uptown’s dynamic mixed-use community and bring high-quality nail and beauty services to the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Kim in a statement. “Our location on Main Street is immersed in all of the energy, amenities and events that Uptown has to offer and we look forward to introducing the luxurious Sugarcoat experience to more clients.”

Sugarcoat’s opening arrives in time for Uptown’s holiday events, which includes family-friendly activations for the community. Upcoming events include the fifth annual Laughs, Llamas and Pajamas on Nov. 20, which features live llamas wearing pajamas, a “Jazzy Santa” and food from Uptown’s globally-inspired restaurants. The Main Street Market series, a monthly market filled with vintage curators, handmade artisans, local artists, food and beverage options and music, will host a holiday-themed event on Dec. 7.

Uptown encompasses nearly 1 million square feet of office space, 110,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and a variety of community gathering spaces. In addition to Sugarcoat, several retailers and restaurants recently opened, including White Windmill, the popular bakery and coffee shop that blends French baking with Korean flavors; Madre Selva, a vibrant Latin-Coastal restaurant; El Gordo, an authentic taqueria; Bene Korean, an upscale Korean barbeque; J’ouvert Caribbean Kitchen, a street food and brunch restaurant; Roundhouse Kickboxing, a dynamic fitness studio; The Commodore, a retro barbershop; and Fly on a Wall, an Atlanta-based arts platform and studio. The new restaurants and retail join 26 Thai Kitchen and Bar and Chow À La Carte at Uptown Test Kitchen, a novel culinary experience designed to bring the community and local chefs from around the world together.

Uptown’s transit-oriented community features connectivity to MARTA and the city’s major pedestrian trails, such as the Atlanta Beltline, PATH400 and the South Fork Trail. As part of the redevelopment, Rubenstein modernized the 35,000-square-foot office atrium; elevated building facades; created a true, pedestrian-friendly Main Street with activated ambient lighting and art; and transformed The Lawn into a highly programmed community gathering space.
