A local pilates studio is growing, with a new location of The Studio Pilates coming to West Midtown.

The Studio Pilates first opened in Emory Village in November 2022, expanding into the adjacent space in 2023. The studio offers a variety of group, private and semiprivate classes, with a range of levels.

With classes filling up, owner Kelly Jackson said the time has come to open a second space.

“We’ve gotten so full,” she told What Now Atlanta. “It’s been surprising for me to see how fast the studio has grown. It speaks to obviously the popularity of pilates right now, but also the need to have this space where you’re building community and you feel welcome. Our classes have continued to fill.”

They conducted a client survey to gather intel on where a second studio was most wanted, and West Midtown was at the top of the list.

The new studio will be located at 763 Trabert Avenue NW, next to the coffee shop and eatery The Daily.

“We were looking for the right fit, and we found that with this spot,” Jackson said. “We have some great neighboring businesses.”

For the design of the space, they worked with Jessica Davis of Atelier Davis to help bring The Studio Pilates vibe – a colorful, mod aesthetic with earthy tones – to the new location.

“Her design aesthetic really aligns with the brand,” Jackson said. “The brand has got some retro vibes, wanting to feel friendly and warm and colorful. The new space is in alignment with that, keeping the same colors and tones while being its own unique space.”

With a background in marketing and advertising, Jackson was inspired to start her own pilates studio out of the desire to create a welcoming workout space that wasn’t intimidating.

“I wanted to make something that felt good for everyone that walked in there, that they felt welcome and like anywhere they were at in their journey, even if it was their first day in a group environment, they would feel like that was a good place to start and that no one would be judging them,” she said.

The Studio Pilates plans to further grow that mission, with hopes to expand to another location at the beginning of next year.

For now, visitors can look forward to The Studio Pilates opening in West Midtown this September.

Founders memberships are available now, with two more upcoming opportunities to sign up – this Friday, July 26, 2024, and next Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. The announcement to sign up for founders memberships goes out on social media at 8 a.m. with a link to purchase. Follow @thestudio.atl on Instagram to stay updated. Future clients can also sign up for an account on the website, which will add them to the email list.

Jackson is excited about the positive, comfortable environment that The Studio Pilates has created for clients, giving people from a range of fitness levels a space to exercise and feel good about themselves.

“It’s been a really positive experience,” she said. “I know from our clients, we’ve heard so many times that it’s a nice place for them to walk into. They look forward to coming in for that 50 minutes to an hour. Especially as you get older, it’s such an important thing to be moving your body, be strengthening your body, and feel like you’re in a place that encourages you.”
