Apparel retailer one of the first to submit building permit application for new Buckhead development.

Theory, a minimalist fashion label started in New York, is moving forward with plans to open in the Buckhead Atlanta development.

The apparel retailer is one of the first of many announced tenants coming to the former Streets of Buckhead project to submit a building permit application to City of Atlanta to begin its buildout.

Theory filed plans Thursday for its 2,580-square-foot space on Bolling Way at the mixed-use development.

An estimated $225,000 will be spent to “retrofit” the “existing” shell at Buckhead Atlanta. Theory, alongside a list of other restaurants and retailers, is on track to open in September.

Theory used to have a location up the street at luxury Buckhead mall Phipps Plaza. That store has since been replaced by Michael Kors.
