California-based retailer to bring plus-sized fashions to Dunwoody.
The metro area will soon have one more option for plus sized women’s fashions.
Retailer Torrid – which sells clothing between sizes 12 and 28 – is opening a location at Perimeter Mall in May of this year.
The clothing store will also be adding stores in Augusta and Commerce this year, according to a LinkedIn job post from Store Manager and District Talent Scout [purchaseform_link popup_text=”Jeannie Gilleland” title=”Want To Contact Jeannie Gilleland?” desc=”

Torrid was owned by Hot Topic until 2015, when the company branched off to become Torrid, LLC. The retailer began operations in April 2001, with its first location in the Brea Mall in Brea, California. Currently, the store has two outposts close to Atlanta at Cumberland Mall, North Point Mall, and Town Center Cobb, with a total of nine locations state-wide.
In recent years, the plus-size clothing industry has been growing. Actresses Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson have designed their own clothing lines, and Sports Illustrated recently made headlines for featuring plus size model Ashley Graham on the magazine’s cover. The last Project Runway winner – Ashley Nell Tipton – was a plus size designer who showed a plus size clothing line for New York Fashion Week.
