Local bean-to-bar chocolate brand Xocolatl Chocolate will join the Upper West Market, which is slated to open this spring at 1385 Collier Road. Xocolatl Chocolate will take Stall 24 at the market, joining an array of other local brands, including Hop City, Dips Kitchen and Bellwood Coffee, planning to join the development.

Elaine Read and Matt Weyandt founded Xocolatl Chocolate in 2014. It currently operates at Krog Street Market. The Upper West Market will be the second location for the brand.

Offerings include chocolate bars such as dark chocolate raspberry bars, barrel-aged dark whiskey and chocolate bars — which won a Silver award at the 2025 Academy of Chocolate Awards in London — and their Ripple Effect chocolate bars, which snagged a 2025 People’s Choice Good Food Award.

An interview with the ownership team for additional details on the expansion is forthcoming.
