ASW Distillery is moving forward with plans to open in The Battery Atlanta later this year.

Cobb County last week issued ASW the necessary permits to begin converting a 3,500-square-foot space, at 900 Battery Ave. SE #1035, into the tasting room and production facility.

Suite 1035 was most recently home to stationery and gifts pop-up Archer Goods across from Good Game powered by TopGolf Swing Suite.

The permit issuance is the most notable public progress towards opening for the distillery since Co-Founders Jim Chasteen and Charlie Thompson announced the new location in February.

Chasteen and Thompson on Monday did not immediately provide What Now Atlanta an updated opening timeline.

In addition to offering public tasting hours and walk-up tour experiences, ASW in The Battery Atlanta will distill a new vodka and gin on-site and perform a small-batch bottling operation.

ASW, founded in 2011, has two existing locations in the Lee + White development and in Armour Yards.

ASW is one of several new tenants heading to The Battery including Fat Tuesday, a New Orleans-style daiquiri bar that once had a presence in Atlanta in the 90s.
