Fritti and Sotto Sotto Chef Massimo Andreozzi is opening his very first solely-owned restaurant called Vesuvio Arriving at 2893 N. Main St. in Kennesaw, the old space that housed Colombian Bites, Vesuvio will serve delicious Italian dishes. Colombian Bites announced on Sept. 18 that it had closed for good, citing the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic.
Lindsay Andreozzi, speaking on behalf of Massimo, told What Now Atlanta (WNA) about their love for Kennesaw and the conception of Vesuvio. “We moved here six years ago and have fallen in love with the laid-back and family-friendly atmosphere,” Andreozzi said. “He drove through downtown Kennesaw every day for work and always said he would love to open something there. As you know, downtown Kennesaw is developing and growing quickly so he feels this is the perfect time to open his concept. He said it feels much like how Inman Park felt 11 years ago when he first started at Fritti and Sotto…it’s amazing how much it’s grown!”
Massimo is a native of Naples where he learned to make wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizza, which seems to be an emphasis of Vesuvio’s menu. While the menu is still being developed, Massimo plans to make popular Italian cuisine, most of which will be served all day. With that said, certain menu items such as the panini will be available only at lunch. “In working for Fritti and Sotto Sotto for the past 11 years [Massimo] knows exactly where to go to in Atlanta to get the freshest, most authentic ingredients.”
Campainian wine and beer will be emphasized as Vesuvio’s drink menu options as well, offering a very authentic Italian experience that is close to home for Massimo. The dine-in area will consist of 49 indoor seats and 20 patio seats with a view of Main Street. The smaller setup allows for Massimo to interact with the Vesuvio’s guests, further emphasizing that they belong there, a feel native to Naples neighborhood restaurants.
Delivery and pickup options will also be available once Vesuvio opens. The Andreozzi’s are hoping that will be sometime before Christmas, aiming for sometime in December. They are hoping to eventually open up a second location with an emphasis on fine dining.
