Austin-based bakery Baklava House is preparing to open its second location in mid-August.

The bakery, located at The Exchange on North Lamar Boulevard, is planning another location within The Homestead Shopping Center near Lakeline Mall.

Owner Mohammed Horani said their original planned opening of July 20 had to be pushed back due to construction delays, but he expects the new bakery to be open in early to mid-August according to a recent Community Impact report.

However, What Now recently got in touch with Mr. Horani to obtain the latest information.

“We are currently waiting on permits from the city,” he said. “At this point we are hoping to open in September.”

When asked whether there would be any changes to the offerings at the second spot, Horani confirms.

“At this location we will add ice cream and juice,” he says.

And why was Morani interested in this particular location?

“It was close to Cedar Park, north Austin, Leander,” he says.

The bakery specializes in Middle Eastern pastries like baklava, kanafeh and za’atar pie. The shop will also offer a selection of juices, ice cream and other desserts to accompany the baked goods.
