According to recent reporting in Community Impact, a classic Central Texas BBQ joint is soon coming to Georgetown at 820 S. Austin Ave.
Run by Ronnie and Staci Schoepf, the restaurant originally opened its Belton location in 1993. The menu features premium meats, and homemade sides and desserts.
“SCHOEPF’s BBQ is coming to the Georgetown Square! We are excited to be opening a 2nd location in Georgetown, Texas!” the Facebook posted.
“We will serve all your favorite food items and some live music also! We will be making some improvements to our new location and we will keep you updated as we make progress!”
In an email to Community Impact, co-owner Ronnie Schoepf stated they are hoping to open the location in the fall “but the timeline may change if the team faces delays with contractors and permits.”
In a recent interview with What Now, Mr. Schoepf says they are still working out the menu as the Georgetown location will be “more of a showcase spot” as it will operate out of a smaller space (relative to the original Belton spot), in the main square area of town.
When asked why Georgetown, Mr. Schoepf explains that his wife and co-owner had long been researching possible areas for another location.
“One of the areas that we found fascinating and interesting was the Georgetown square,” he says. “There’s a great vibe and sense of being in that area. It was not four hours away from where we were located; it was a place that would allow us to be part of a community that was already there. We figured that with our thirty plus years of experience doing what we do, we would be a great asset to the community.”
In terms of opening timeframe, Mr. Schoepf does not yet have a firm timeline considering construction permitting, and inspection variables. For now, the duo is hoping to open in the fall.
