NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal will be expanding his Big Chicken Brand into Austin in partnership with Sweetwater Franchise Group, a Houston based group spearheaded by Fazil Malik, Frank Malik, and Noordin Jhaver. The entry into central Texas is part of the group’s ambitious 50-unit expansion across the state of Texas.

For readers unfamiliar with the concept, Big Chicken describes their menu as ranging “from crispy chicken sandwiches and tenders to Cheez-It® crusted mac n’ cheese and hand-crafted ice cream shakes, each menu item tells a story all while offering guests an inside look into the life and personality of Shaquille O’Neal.”

“We’re thrilled that Fazil, Frank and Noordin are continuing to build Big Chicken’s soon-to-be massive presence in Texas with the debut of their second location,” Big Chicken CEO Josh Halpern said in a prepared release. “From the beginning, we’ve known that the trio was a fantastic match for the brand and we’ll continue to celebrate each new location alongside them as if it were the first.”

No timelines or potential addresses have been announced for Big Chicken’s arrival to Austin.
