It’s a new restaurant from the team behind Milk + Tea (and a new Milk + Tea looks to be part of the package!)

What Now reported back in January on plans for Milk + Tea, the local boba tea favorite with locations in Austin, Leander, Pflugerville, and beyond, to open a new location in Manor. That new location is currently marked Temporarily Closed at 11910 US-290, Suite 145, on Google Maps, which may mean an opening is coming soon.

Meanwhile, however, the team behind Milk + Tea is at work on another new restaurant in Hutto: Rice Stop. It’s opening at 210 Ed Schmidt Boulevard, where it will serve dishes from Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine.

“Rice Stop is an upcoming restaurant in Hutto, Texas, set to offer a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine alongside boba tea,” says a post published to Facebook by Rice Stop Hutto. “Located at 210 Ed Schmidt Blvd., Suite 100, in the former Stockade Kitchen space, it’s positioned in front of The Home Depot and near a new Panera Bread.”

The post goes on to describe a Milk + Tea location in Hutto, as well, but it does not give a location—it’s possible both brands will be making an appearance at the same address, or a new Milk + Tea may be opening elsewhere in Hutto.

Coverage published on March 31 by Huttotopia says construction is underway, with work actively being done on the dining room.

“We consider this a great step toward opening,” the coverage says.

What Now reached out to owner Cuong Nguyen on Friday to ask about Rice Stop’s timeline for opening and details on a Hutto location for Milk + Tea. Nguyen was not immediately available for comment.
