First opened in 2018 in the H-Mart food court as one of Austin’s first Korean fried chicken restaurants, Donkey’s Mo’s Korean Fried Chicken has become a mainstay for chicken and other Korean favorites. Currently located at 5312 Airport Blvd in Austin, the brand is preparing to expand to its second brick-and-mortar restaurant.
Work permits paperwork submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a new Donkey Mo’s opening at 6301 W Parmer Ln, Suite 502.
“We have been doing great,” founder Young Noh told What Now on Wednesday. “And so Charlie, my partner, and I are trying to expand our concept.”
Donkey Mo’s chicken is served with sauces like Sweet and Spicy, Soy Garlic, Holy Donkey, Sweet and Sour, and K-Buffalo Sauce. And its chicken wings and thighs aren’t the only thing on offer: there are also snacks like Shishito Peppers, Chicken Dumplings, and Bacon Kimchi Fries—and even a small Brunch menu with choices like the Bacon & Egg Sandwich and the Chicken Tender & Egg Sandwich.
“The menu is going to be the same, but updated a little bit,” Noh said. “And there is a bar, so we’re going to have a late-night menu for that area, too, with some bar snacks.”
Meanwhile, Noh adds that a few new sauces are in the works, including possibilities like a honey mustard sauce and another Korean-style sauce.
The new Donkey Mo’s is working toward an opening in May.
