Classic American fast-casual brand Wendy’s is on its way to Liberty Hill, according to recent public records. The restaurant, managed by Houston-based Haza Group, will be located at 13001 TX-29, next to Starbucks.
Public records examined by What Now Austin list an estimated $850,000 construction cost and a December 2024 completion date.
An international fast casual brand that requires little introduction, Wendy’s serves an array of sandwiches, burgers and salads, along with its signature Frosty, a soft-serve ice-cream beverage. In researching company history, one notable fact stands out: Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy’s, was once a mentee and partner of Colonel Sanders, the founder of fast-casual concept KFC.
“It was 1962 when Dave was finally offered an opportunity he couldn’t pass up – the chance to rejuvenate four failing Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in Columbus, Ohio,” Wendy’s official website states.
“Dave had met Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC, and he quickly became one of Dave’s strongest mentors. When Phil Clauss bought a KFC franchise, he offered Dave a chance to revive his four failing restaurants in Columbus. Against even the Colonel’s advice, Dave took the challenge and succeeded.”
Until the Liberty Hill location opens its doors, readers can readily find Wendy’s locations all across the central Texas area.
