A local and very popular oyster shucking pop up and catering service is soon making a big leap up. Austin Oyster Co. will begin building up its first brick and mortar spot this summer on East Cesar Chavez.
“That’s right, y’all. Your new favorite oyster bar is bringing east coast oysters to the east side,” the official website confirms. “Coming late 2025.”
Records examined by What Now reveal that construction will consist of an “Existing building + building addition area total is 2,016sf + 993sf deck” costing an estimated $800,000. Indeed, construction is anticipated to reach completion by the year’s end.
“Austin Oyster Co. started in April 2020 — you remember those days. We missed good meals at restaurants with great company,” the site states.
“After shucking oysters at a couple of socially distanced backyard parties with friends, we realized we might be onto something. Austin Oyster Co was born with the goal to bring the best quality East Coast oysters directly to your home in Austin, Texas.”
