The popular chef-led Asian smokehouse and barbecue-influenced restaurant Loro will soon be undergoing renovations and improvements to its Austin location, according to recent public records. The restaurant is located at 2115 S. Lamar Blvd, near eateries such as Bouldin Acres and The Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co.

Defining its culinary concept on the official website, Loro states “Any dish you order from Loro, contains the soul, technique, and flavors of Southeast Asia and Japan combined with traditional smoke flavors of the Lone Star State. The pairing of these two cultures gives your palette a new experience with items that may still feel very familiar.”

Details on the public filing are sparse but do give some estimates regarding key information. One, it seems that renovations will focus on improving the patio and Loro’s overall outdoor dining experience. Two, estimates suggest that construction will be done by fall 2023, and three, estimates place the project’s costs at around $150,000.

What Now Austin reached out to Chelsea Manning, project representative and head of interior design at Hai Hospitality, the group in charge of Loro, to inquire about this upcoming project. Manning simply stated: “We’re not giving out information on that just yet.”

Readers can reasonably expect the renovations to expand the restaurant’s established aesthetic, defined on the official website as “as much a melding of cultures as the food. Texas Dancehall vibes collide with Far Eastern sensibilities to deliver an expansive indoor and outdoor dining experience. The intent is a warm, laid-back, and leisurely space to welcome anyone looking for good food and good times.”
