The nationally ubiquitous fast-casual fried chicken chain Popeye’s will soon be expanding in Austin, according to recent public records. The restaurant will be joining the food court at Barton Creek Square shopping center, located at 2901 S. Capital of Texas Highway.

Popeye’s, like most other chicken-centered fast-casual restaurants, features a menu of fried chicken combos, boneless chicken wings and tenders, chicken sandwiches, and a range of appetizers such as cajun fries, coleslaw, red beans and rice, and homestyle mac & cheese.

The restaurant will be run by IRMG, a massive restaurant operating group that runs a wide array of notable American fast-casual restaurants such as Burger King, Kelly’s Cajun Grill, and Suki Hana.

What Now Austin reached out to President Anthony Napoliello to inquire about the restaurant’s opening date and other potential plans for Central Texas expansions, but he was not immediately available for comment.

Public records state that the construction will cover “new tenant alterations to existing food court restaurant to accommodate new restaurant including architectural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing work”. Construction is set to begin in June and wrap up by September 2023.
