Rice Stop is primed to open at the Shops at Hanson’s Corner. The new Chinese and Vietnamese fusion restaurant is expected to open at 210 Ed Schmidt Blvd, Ste 100, in Hutto this year.

According to a permit recently filed with the Texas Department of Licening and Regulation, construction on Rice Stop just started in early November and is expected to wrap up by mid-December of this year.

Rice Stop already has a Facebook page up. Although the restaurateurs have not been posting on the page very much, a big “coming soon” is sprawled behind the Rice Stop logo, which shows that the new restaurant will be a Chinese/Vietnamese Kitchen & Boba Tea spot.

Cuong Nguyen is listed as the tenant on the permit. What Now Austin briefly spoke with Nguyen in an attempt to get more details about the new eatery, but he was quite busy.

Rice Stop’s Facebook page further details what the new eatery plans to bring to the Greater Austin community.

“The restaurant aims to bring authentic flavors with dishes likely including staples like Egg rolls, Orange Chicken, lo mein, banh mi, and Fried Rice or vermicelli bowls, based on trends in similar establishments,” the Facebook page reads.

The space the restaurant is intended to live on Ed Schmidt Blvd was once home to the former Stockade Kitchen space, which is positioned in front of The Home Depot and near a new Panera Bread.

Rice Stop is opening at a prime time, as the area’s bubble tea scene continues to blossom and boom.

While there are not a whole lot of details on the menu, the eatery intends to offer a range of traditional and modern boba tea options, such as classic milk teas, fruit-infused teas, and specialty drinks with customizable toppings like tapioca pearls, grass jelly, or fruit jellies. Certainly an option for refreshing, Instagram-worthy drinks.

Keep an eye on the Rice Stop Facebook page for further updates and be prepared to stop by 210 Ed Schmidt Blvd, Ste 100, in Hutto when the new food spot opens its doors in December.
