According to recent public records, a new Vietnamese restaurant is coming to Hutto. Bites and Basil will be found at 150 Alliance Blvd, a key location in the growing Austin suburb.

In a recent interview, owner Tumy Diep–who local readers may recognize as the owner of Pflugerville’s Broth and Basil–tells What Now Austin it will be a “similar concept” to that of the popular sister establishment.

“It’s going to be a classic Vietnamese cuisine with a Texas twist,” she says.

That Texas twist is represented, at the very least, through their ingredients.

“We will be sourcing wagyu beef from Ranger Cattle, a local ranch here in Austin,” Diep says.

“We will be featuring pho, a traditional Vietnamese soup and we will be introducting appetizers and a full bar,” she adds.

When asked why Hutto was such an attractive location to expand into, Diep points to similar values and familiarity.

“We wanted to be closer to Hutto because it’s a very family oriented community, similar to our location’s home in Pflugerville. We are hoping to reach out to families in the Hutto community.”

So when will the establishment open?

“Hopefully we are targeting for September of this year.”
