A trendy gastropub in Boston’s South End could be making a comeback.

According to an Instagram story from owner Rebecca Roth Gullo (via Boston Restaurant Talk), The Gallows may return in 2026 at an undisclosed location in the city. The restaurant’s Instagram bio teases, “2026-rise from the phoenix? We miss you all.”

Gullo originally opened The Gallows on Washington St in 2010, dishing out an array of comfort dishes until the building was demolished in 2021 to make way for a new development. Her hospitality group, The Gallows Group, also operates local favorites Banyan Bar + Refuge, Blackbird Doughnuts, and Sally’s Sandwiches.

The Gallows’ menu was known for its “hard-to-find poutine,” alongside New American staples like fried pickles, burgers, and flat iron steak.

When reached for comment, Gullo told What Now Boston that she has no updates to share but may have more to say in Q3 of 2025.
