A local Italian chain is gearing up to introduce a convenient concept in downtown Boston.

According to a press release, Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant plans to launch a takeout-friendly eatery called Bertucci’s Pronto at 18 Tremont St, just steps from the Freedom Trail.

Known for its signature brick oven pizzas, Bertucci’s was founded in 1981 by Joey Crugnale in Somerville’s Davis Square. In 2018, the chain was acquired by Earl Enterprises for $20 million and currently operates more than 20 locations across the East Coast.

The upcoming Bertucci’s Pronto will seat up to 34 guests and feature a menu of Italian-inspired dishes, including pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and rolls.

In addition to Bertucci’s, the Orlando, Florida-based Earl Enterprises owns a number of popular chains including Brio Italian Grille, BRAVO! Italian Kitchen, Earl of Sandwich, Chicken Guy!, and Rock & Reilly’s.

“We are thrilled to return to downtown Boston with a new concept in this historic location,” said Robert Earl, founder of Earl Enterprises. “The community has been so supportive of Bertucci’s and we have been searching for the perfect spot in the city to launch our first Bertucci’s Pronto restaurant. This spot, on Tremont Street, is what we were looking for.”

Bertucci’s Pronto is slated to open in the spring of 2025.
