A popular Jamaica Plain restaurant is taking a brief hiatus before unveiling its new space.
Brassica Kitchen + Cafe is moving from its current home at 3710 Washington St in Forest Hills into the space next door at 3712 Washington St, formerly occupied by The Dogwood.
“We’ve been bursting at the seams for quite some time in our current location,” reads the eatery’s website. “Our little space is no longer big enough to house such a talented & driven team–nor can it fit all the friends we’ve made along the way, from JP & beyond!”
The move will more than double Brassica’s existing floor plan and bar seating while introducing a state-of-the-art pizza oven, made possible through fans’ generous GoFundMe contributions.
Owned by siblings Jeremy and Rebecca Kean and their longtime friend Philip Kruta, Brassica has earned a loyal following with its two-in-one approach. By day, the restaurant serves as a bustling café pouring gourmet coffee alongside pastries and brunch staples like chicken and waffles, hash browns, omelettes, and French toast.
Come evening, the atmosphere shifts into a Euro-inspired dining room, where guests can sip craft cocktails and share creative comfort plates such as chive cakes, koji risotto, hamachi crudo, and charred radicchio.
The team recently announced the move on social media, noting that the final day of café service at the current location will be Friday, September 26, with the last night of dinner service to follow on Saturday, September 27.
“It has brought all of us immense joy to welcome you into our home, and to share with all of you all of the things that we are so passionate about,” they wrote. “It feels bittersweet to leave this space, but we are so proud and excited to make more memories in a space that isn’t falling apart at the seams. We remain dedicated to serving this neighborhood for the next decade with the same spirit as we have for the last.”
An official reopening date has not yet been announced, but fans are encouraged to follow Brassica Kitchen + Cafe on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates and the chance to snag a table once reservations go live.
