Brick Street Bagels, the popular pop-up bagel business that started in a South End apartment, is making the leap to a brick-and-mortar storefront.

Owner Jordan Renouf announced on Tuesday, Feb. 25 that the shop will find its home at 371 W Broadway in South Boston, taking over the former Sweet Tooth Bakery space.

“10 months in the making and we could not be more excited to finally announce this,” Renouf shared. “We will be opening our first permanent storefront where we will offer fresh bagels, open-faced sandwiches, coffee and whatever else our whimsy leads us to.”

Renouf began baking bagels in November 2022, first delivering his Brick Street creations by bike before hosting public park pop-ups and eventually serving at the South End Buttery.

To support the transition into a permanent space, Brick Street Bagels has launched a NuMarket crowdfunding campaign. Contributors will receive 120% back in credits to use at both the upcoming South Boston location and in the South End. While the goal is set at $100,000, Renouf emphasized that any amount of support is appreciated.

“This next step wouldn’t be possible without you,” he wrote on the campaign page. “Building kitchens is expensive, and we’re so thankful to have a community like ours to turn to for support. That’s why we chose to raise funds on NuMarket—not as a charity, but as an exchange that feels true to the relationships we’ve built.”

Renouf told What Now Boston that he hopes to open the new Southie bagelry in “May-ish,” depending on city permits.

“We’re a small but mighty team of creative people and we’re excited to bring our energy to a neighborhood that’s been so supportive since the start,” he said.
