An Egyptian-American fusion concept is headed to downtown Boston, promising a fast-casual mashup of burgers and shawarma.
Burg & Shaw will take over a 750-square-foot space at 80 Boylston St, nestled between The Cutler Majestic Theatre and Boston Common. The new takeout-only eatery comes from brothers Ahmed and Farouk Kadous, founders of Egypt’s Chickin Worx chain.
“Burg & Shaw is inspired by two characters — Burg, an American who’s an amazing burger griller, and Shaw, a Middle Easterner who specializes in shawarma,” Farouk, a Northeastern University business grad, told What Now Boston. “They’ve teamed up to create something bun-believably good — where East meets West in a bun.”
The menu will be small and focused: just beef burgers, plus chicken and beef shawarmas, all served on a custom-baked bun made exclusively for Burg & Shaw. “By keeping it tight, we can pour all our attention into making each bite super tasty,” Farouk added.
Construction is officially underway, with an opening expected between mid-September and October 2025. Once it debuts, the eatery is set to operate daily from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
“At Burg & Shaw, we believe food is more than just a meal — it’s a medium for cultures to meet, unite, and get to know each other,” said Farouk. “Every bite blends flavors and traditions from different worlds, brought together in a way that feels familiar yet exciting.”
